FRIENDS OF MILITARY RIDGE tRAIL

dEDICATED TO THE CARE, DEVELOPMENT, AND MANAGEMENT OF
THE mILITARY rIDGE tRAIL

Our Mission

The mission of the Friends of Military Ridge Trail is to promote and enhance Military Ridge State Trail use for the enjoyment of hikers, bikers, runners, snowmobilers, and skiers. We are committed to the preservation of the natural and historic aspects of the 40 mile trail that runs from Dodgeville to Fitchburg, Wisconsin.

News

Just a friendly reminder the Trail is most vulnerable during the spring thaw. If your feet leave foot prints or tires leave ruts, please refrain from using the trail until it dries out and hardens. Deep ruts and footprints can leave long term damage to the trail that requires heavy equipment to grade and repair the surface.  Thank you!

Trail Work and Closures
A 1-mile section of the Military Ridge State Trail between Epic Lane and Wildcat Way in Verona will be closed from about April 21 to July 15, 2022 due to construction of Hwy 18/151. A marked detour along city streets will be posted for trail users. Detour Map

A sewer project, Pumping Station 17 Force Main Relief, Phase 2, is planned near Verona that will protect the environment and serve the community for years to come. This will impact the paved section of the trail between miles 1 and 3. Find out more on the Madison Metropolitan Sewerage District Website
